Social Media: The Key to Our Family?

I love social media.  Despite what you may read, I don’t think that it is the root of all evil.  Social media is what you make it.  You have to decide how you want to participate in the spaces, determine your personal brand and stick to that.  You also have to  be aware of what you are putting out there, and self edit when you need to.

With that being said, during our education sessions we were told that for many people networking has been the way that people have successfully completed their families.  This peaked my attention. For many couples, they found their birthmothers or surrogates through word of mouth.  Perhaps someone knew someone who was making an adoption plan, or an incredible person may have been willing to be a surrogate for a couple.

In Canada, you can not compensate an individual for surrogate services, nor can you participate in activities that could be perceived as advertisement or solicitation of individuals.  If you live in BC or Ontario, however, you can do things like creating websites to search for a birthmom.

So networking could be the key to connecting with our baby.  If you know of anyone that may be making an adoption plan or considering option, it is ok for you to share our information or this blog.  Spread the word. Social media are a great way for us to potentially connect with our future baby!
